There was laughter at the Sharia Court, Samaru, Gusau, Zamfara State,  during the week, when a housewife, Aisha Dannupawa, asked the court to dissolve her one-week marriage to her husband, Ali Maizinari, because she could not bear the size of his penis. When the case came up, according to Tribune, the woman told the court that she married her husband after her first marriage failed. The mother of three revealed that  before she packed into her husband’s house, as the tradition demanded, she was invited into his parents house. She told the court that “when he came, we had sex but the experience was a nightmare. Instead of enjoying the sex, it turned out to be something else because his penis was too big,” she told the court. She also told the court that after the experience, she took some medication, which was given to her by her mother. “I told my mother the experience but she told me to endure and that with time, I will be able to cope. She then gave me some drugs,’’ she added. According to her, “two days later when he came to visit me, we had sex again, but the experience was too much to bear. It was then I knew that I could not continue with the marriage because of the size of his penis.’’ The husband, Maizinari, did not deny what his wife said. He told the court that he was willing to divorce her but that she should pay back the dowry and all that he spent on her during the courtship. When he was asked to state the amount, Maizinari disclosed that what he expected from her was N60,000. President of the court, Alhaji Mamman Shinkafi, told the couple to try reconciliation before the next date. 

Nigerian Military Takes Delivery Of Two Jets Loaded With Weapons

The Nigerian military took delivery of two Boeing 747 jets fully loaded with ammunition that arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Wednesday evening.
The first and second jets, which arrived around 4pm and 6pm respectively, had various forms of sophisticated weapons meant for military operations in the North-East, according to reliable sources at the airport.
Our correspondent sighted the jets on the tarmac at the airport on Thursday but was denied access to even get close to them by officials guarding those who were offloading the cargoes.
It was learnt that the Federal Government’s intensive campaign against insurgents in the North-East would be boosted with the arrival of the ammunition.
A security official at the airport, who pleaded not to be named as he was not authorised to speak on the matter, told our correspondent that “the ammunition in these massive cargo jets show how determined the government is to considerably halt the activities of Boko Haram within the six weeks which it requested from INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission).
“We don’t often see the arrival of heavy ammo like this in this airport. This one shows there is trouble for insurgents in the North-East.”
Asked of the registration of the foreign cargo jets that brought in the heavy ammo and where the aircraft came from, our source at the NAIA said, “I cannot tell where the ammunitions were from but they are being offloaded and moved to town one after the other.
“The cargo jets are Boeing 747 planes and one of them has LW Italia written on it. I cannot tell you details because this is a classified operation and officials of this airport cannot even get close to see clearly other details of the airplanes. As you can see, this massive cargo plane can carry so many items than many other cargo jets.”
It was also gathered that the offloading of the jets started since Wednesday and stretched till Thursday.
The Federal Government had also assured Nigerians that it would reduce the activities of insurgents within the six-week period.
Meanwhile, the Trade Union Congress has appealed to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, to show mercy to soldiers who are condemned to death by firing squad for various offences in relation withthe ongoing counter-terrorism operation in the North-East.
A total of 60 soldiers were sentenced to death by firing squad by military court martial for mutiny, conspiracy to commit mutiny and other grave offences.
The President and Secretary General of the TUC, Messrs Bala Kaigama and Musa Lawal, respectively, said in a statement on Thursday that the sanctity of justice would not be desecrated if mercy was shown to the affected soldiers.
“The Congress wishes to also appeal to the Federal Government and the military authorities to temper justice with mercy on the soldiers that were condemned some months ago.
“Justice, they say, serves a better societal purpose, when tempered with mercy. And indeed the quality of mercy is not strained. It is twice blessed. It blesses he that gives and he that takes.”
Kaigama and Lawal also urged the Army chief to ensure that the promise he made to victorious troops during his visit to Baga that all soldiers who participated in the liberation of the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force would be given automatic promotion.
They said that the promise made by the Army chief would go a long way to boosting the morale of troops involved in the ongoing operation.

A female suicide bomber is said to have blown herself up at the crowded station on Tuesday, February 24, in the second such attack on the city in less than a week.

At least 10 people are believed to have been killed in the latest blast, a security source told Reuters.

Earlier in the week, a young girl of about 7-years-old blew herself up at the GSM market in Potiskum killing 5 people.

“When they start depending on smoking marijuana, I don’t know how far they’d go to get the funds they need to support it, to support themselves,” Edward Nick, a council member in Manokotak, said.
Residents are however only allowed to indulge in private as smoking pot in public can attract a $100 fine.

He said this in Abeokuta on Monday.Obasanjo was reacting to a twitter account, @newsvergeonline, which had posted a tweet on Sunday, claiming that the ex-President had described the Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Femi Fani-Kayode, as a “democracy wrecker.”

He said the fake twitter account with his name, Olusegun A. Obasanjo, posted the story with caption: ‘Fani-Kayode is a democracy wrecker, who’s very fluent in stupidity. Give him food, and he will sing and doshokidance for you’.

Dismissing the twitter account, he explained that all his previous accounts on either Facebook or Twitter had long been blocked. Obasanjo said, “I don’t know where this comes from. I don’t have any account on either the Facebook or Twitter again. Go and block it.”

Obasanjo used the opportunity to caution those using his name to operate illegal social media accounts, warning that the security agencies had been placed on the alert to fish out the perpetrators.

He said, “Nemesis will catch up with anyone doing this. It is illegal and criminal. If I have to pass any message to the good people of Nigeria, I know how to go about it with no controversy.”

Troops Get New Arms And Soldiers Express Desire To Return To The Front And To Capture Shekau

Reports coming out from the field in the North East where soldiers are currently engaged in a war against the Boko Haram terrorists reveal an uptick in the morale of the Nigerian troops
The reason for the excitement in the Nigerian camp is the string of victories achieved by the military which has been put down to the arrival of sophisticated armaments and the decision of senior military officers to lead the war against terror directly which also influenced the change of some commanders.
A source who spoke to a national daily said that ”Some of the successes recorded in recovery of big towns in the Northeast were due to deployment of new strategies, improved disciplinary measures, and sincerity of participating countries in the regional alliance and the acquisitions of latest equipment.
”In the past, colonels have led direct attacks in accordance with military tradition, but because of the large scale desertions recorded, Generals then decided to directly lead the war and this has greatly boosted morale.
“Many of the troops that earlier deserted have returned while others have expressed desire to return to the front.”
Recently, five key towns were reclaimed from the hands of the terrorists – Baga, Monguno, Marte, Gamboru Ngala and Dikwa.
Now, Nigerian troops have been mandated to ensure that Boko Haram leader Imam Abubakar Shekau is captured alive before the elections, as well as ensure the release of the Chibok girls. Even Pres. Jonathan said during an interview last Friday that the military would capture Shekau soon.
Twice in the past, the military had claimed to have captured the terrorist leader, only for him to reappear.
But with the recent victories and momentum by the soldiers there are now fresh hopes that Shekau can be captured this time.
The desire to capture the terrorist leader this time, according to a source is because, “On at least two occasions now, troops have killed characters calling themselves Abubakar Shekau in videos but the insurgents manage to find other individuals looking like him and pretend that he was still alive. The order to catch Shekau alive is therefore to ensure that it will no longer be possible to resort to the same trick. The rumour about Shekau’s invincibility is one of the factors that troops are afraid to confront the terrorists.”

No more PASS DEGREE as NUC Abolishes Award Of Pass Degree

THE National Universities Commission (NUC) has abolished the award of Pass Degree in Nigerian Universities with effect from the 2013/ 2014 academic session.
Prof Abdullahi Zuru, the Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, disclosed this on Wednesday at the 2014/2015 matriculation of 4,133 students of the institution.
``This has far reaching implications on the grading system of students in universities.
“This means that the minimum pass mark for courses in the universities will now be 45 per cent, that is, D-grade, instead of the previous 40 per cent which was E-grade.
“It also means that the minimum class of degree to be earned by students will now be Third Class,” he said.
According to him, no university student will henceforth graduate with a Pass Degree. He therefore enjoined the students to work hard to earn their stay in the university.
The vice chancellor also advised them to shun extremism, bigotry, violence, ethnicity, political intolerance and religious prejudice.
Zuru commended the Federal Government and its agencies for fully transforming the landscape of the university.
Earlier, the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr Adamu Aliero warned that any student that flouted the rules and regulations of the university would be sanctioned.
He assured the students that the management of the institution would continue to accord top priority to their welfare.
In a remark, Mr Aminu Wushishi, Chairman of the caretaker committee of the students union government, assured that the students would be law abiding. (NAN)

The surgeons however decided to embark on a surgical technique normally used to treat Peyronie’s disease, a condition where scar tissue develops along the penis, causing it to bend.

The teenager spent just two days in hospital before returning homes satisfied with the result.

U.S Pledges To Provide Communications Equipment In Fight Against Boko Haram

The United States military will provide communications equipment and intelligence to help African nations in the fight against Islamist group Boko Haram, the Commander of U.S. Special Forces Operations in Africa, James Linder  said.
The aid is part of the annual U.S.-backed ‘Flintlock’ counter-terrorism exercises. The U.S will provide technology allowing African partners to communicate between cell phones, radios and computers.
The system also incorporates a translation function that will allow commanders in francophone countries like Chad to communicate by message with English-speaking officers in Nigeria.
The four nations of the Lake Chad region—Chad, Niger, Cameroon and Nigeria—plus neighboring Benin are preparing a joint task-force of 8,700 men to take on the Sunni jihadist group.
Chad’s military, which played a leading role in a French-led campaign that ousted Islamist groups from northern Mali in 2013, has already led attacks against Boko Haram positions in Nigeria’s border regions.
“The Lake Chad nations are battling Boko Haram and we have a vested interest in that group of nations’ collective success.
What Boko Harm is doing is a murderous rampage, about brutality, intolerance and subjugation.
There is discussion on how will we provide additional tools, techniques, and material to partner with nations”, Linder said.
At the Flintlock exercises, the U.S. military will also introduce a Cloud-based technology to allow African allies
to quickly share intelligence, such as mapping information on the location of potential targets.
The ninth edition of Flintlock, grouping 1,300 soldiers from 28 African and Western nations, will emphasise the importance of troops fostering strong relations with local communities to gain intelligence on insurgent groups.
Linder said African armies were well-placed to gather this kind of information, but that the United States could share other kinds of intelligence to boost the success of operations against Boko Haram.
“It’s the things that we find from flying over a target and having a full motion video, or being able to take pictures.
It also includes being able to do a different type of geo-spatial analysis or predictive analysis on the enemy”, he said.
Washington’s long-term goal is to enable African nations to be sufficiently trained and equipped to face their own security challenges.
By 2050, one-third of the global population will be on the African continent,” he said.
He added that the global economy/community needs stable countries in Africa and that can only happen through African nations themselves.
West African military commanders have long complained that cross-border operations against Islamist groups had been obstructed by lack of compatible communications equipment.

Boko Haram Leader Shekau Vows to Disrupt Nigeria Election In New Video

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau has vowed to disrupt Nigeria’s general election in a new video released Tuesday, after two suicide attacks in the northeast blamed on the Islamists killed 38 people.
“This election will not be held even if we are dead. Even if we are not alive Allah will never allow you to do it,” Shekau said in the Hausa language, presumably referring to the polls scheduled for March 28.
According to AFP, the video appeared to be the first message released by the group on Twitter, a sign
of its changing media tactics after previous messages were distributed to journalists on DVD.
Shekau was shown in unusual clarity in front of a solid blue background, dressed in black and with an automatic weapon resting to his right.
He also claimed a weekend attack in the northeast Nigerian city of Gombe, which the military says was repelled.
The Islamist leader, declared a global terrorist by the United States and sanctioned by the United Nations, disputed the military’s account of the Gombe clashes, claiming that his fighters overran troops and freed insurgents from prison.
Nigeria’s general election had been scheduled for February 14 but was postponed by six weeks, with the security services saying they needed more time to contain the violence in the northeast, Boko Haram’s stronghold.
Despite Shekau’s threat, experts doubt that the Islamist rebels have the capacity to disrupt voting nationwide, although election officials have conceded that voting could prove impossible in parts of the northeast.

The activists also said that the fighters take numerous wives to satisfy their demand for sex, and spend large amounts of time searching for 'sabaya' - kidnapped women and children, some of them as young as nine, who have been sold into sex slavery.

A Kenyan lawyer filed a petition with the International Court of Justice in The Hague, suggesting that the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ was unlawful, and the State of Israel among others should be held responsible, Kenyan news outlet the Nairobian reported some time ago.

Dola Indidis, a lawyer and former spokesman of the Kenyan Judiciary is reportedly attempting to sue Tiberius (emperor of Rome, 42 BCE-37 CE), Pontius Pilate, a selection of Jewish elders, King Herod, the Republic of Italy and the State of Israel.

“Evidence today is on record in the Bible, and you cannot discredit the Bible,” Indidis told the Kenyan Citizen News.
Although those he suggests should have been convicted during the original trial have not been alive for more than 2,000 years, Indidis insists that the government for whom they acted can and should still be held responsible.
“I filed the case because it’s my duty to uphold the dignity of Jesus and I have gone to the ICJ to seek justice for the man from Nazareth,” Indidis told the Nairobian.

“His selective and malicious prosecution violated his human rights through judicial misconduct, abuse of office bias and prejudice.”
Indidis apparently named the states of Italy and Israel in the lawsuit because upon the attainment of independence, the two states incorporated the laws of the Roman Empire, those in force at the time of the crucifixion.

He is challenging the mode of questioning used during Jesus’s trial, prosecution, hearing and sentencing; the form of punishment meted out to him while undergoing judicial proceedings and the substance of the information used to convict him.

The case was first filed in the High Court in Nairobi but was rejected. Indidis then applied to have it heard at the ICJ.

Bursted!! Lagos Pastor Arraigned Over Alleged N5.1 Million Fraud

A 47-year-old pastor, Olateju Oluwakemi, was on Monday brought before a Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with duping a foreign exchange operator of N5.1 million.
Olateju, who resides at No. 17, Sabiu Ajose St., Surulere, Lagos State, is facing a three-count charge of obtaining by false pretence, issuance of a dishonoured cheque and stealing.
The prosecutor, Chris Takim, told the court that the accused had on Nov. 21, 2013 fraudulently obtained the sum of N5.1 million from one Joseph Alegieunoat 6Js Bureau De Change Ltd. Lagos.
According to Takim, the accused and her husband, Jide, approached the complainant, who is the Managing Director of 6Js, on Nov. 8, 2013 to sell $32,300 at the rate of N5.1 million.
He said that Olateju collected the amount while her husband stood as a guarantor for his wife.
The prosecutor said that the couple convinced the complainant to give them N4 million, which had drawn an accumulated interest of N1.2 million at an exchange rate of N160.00 per dollar.
Takim said the accused promised to credit the complainant’s account within 90 days and issued a post dated N5.1 million First Bank Plc cheque with serial No. 28391214 and account no 2009844777, dated Nov. 21, 2013.
He explained that when the cheque was presented for payment, it was returned due to insufficient funds and the complainant’s effort to reach the accused thereafter was unsuccessful.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 312, 319 and 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, M.A Osinbanjo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N60,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till March 19, for trial.

NDLEA Arrests Cherubim & Seraphim Pastor For Attempting To Export N609 Million Worth Of Narcotics

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) said on Monday that it had apprehended a pastor in Lagos attempting to export 174 kg of narcotics worth N609 million to South Africa.
In a statement by the Head, Public Affairs Unit, Ofoyeju Mitchell, the NDLEA said the suspect was arrested following the interception of the drug at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) during pre-shipment examination.
It said that preliminary investigation indicated that the 60-year-old accused man was suspected to be a member of a drug syndicate operating in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.
It also stated that the pastor was a member of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Church at Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun, Lagos.
According to the statement, the accused had international passports bearing his photographs with the names Michael Raji and Kadigun Fatah Ola respectively.
It was discovered that the church premises where he was ministering, also served as a warehouse for narcotics.
The seized drugs, concealed inside large bags of foodstuff, were found to contain 91kg of Methamphetamine and 83kg of Ephedrine with an estimated street value of N609 million.
The statement also quoted Hamza Umar, the Commander, NDLEA, Lagos Airport, as saying that a Mercedes Benz Jeep was also impounded during the operation.
“I can tell you that this suspect is a smooth operator but we have uncovered his bag of tricks.
The drugs were brought to the airport for export to South Africa.
Investigation eventually traced the movement of the drugs to his church premises where he was arrested,” Hamza stated.
According to the statement, the suspect said that he collected the drugs from a friend.
“I received the drugs from my friend and I kept them in the church since October 2014.
I am the resident pastor of Cherubim and Seraphim Agodo-Egbe, Ikotun branch, Lagos. I attended Ansarudeen Primary and Secondary School, Ibadan.
I later attended Yaba College of Technology, where I had my Trade Test in Electrical Installation.
I was ordained a full time pastor in 1977. This is a great temptation for me and I pray to God to overcome it,” he said.
The Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Alhaji Ahmadu Giade, was quoted as saying that the game was up for the suspect.
“The game is up for the suspect and we have strong evidence for prosecution.
This is one of the largest seizures of psychotropic substances at the airport.
We are working very hard to apprehend other accomplices and bring them to book,” Giade stated.
The NDLEA boss called on members of the public to continue to support the NDLEA by volunteering useful information on drug trafficking syndicates.

Wole Soyinka warns Nigerians concerning the forth coming Elections

Nobel Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka has called on Nigerians to be prepared to deal return to the trenches if a wrong choice is made in the March 28 Presidential elecection.
“All I know is that if a wrong choice is made, we must all be prepared and we should start preparing to go back to the trenches whatever it takes,” Soyinka told BBC’s Will Ross in an interview.
Asked about his view of the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari, who he wrote about in his memoir, Soyinka said his regime as head of state was second to only the Abacha regime in terms of brutality. However, he admits that people change.
“I’ve got to a point where I look at the possibility of genuine internal transformation in some individuals.
I’ve been disappointed before and we must always be ready to be disappointed again.
All I know is that if a wrong choice is made, we must all be prepared and we should start preparing to go back to the trenches whatever it takes.”
He explained what he meant by the trenches: “Let’s put it this way, the way you fight a civilian misrule is different from the way you deal with people like Sani Abacha.
So, I’m saying that Nigerians should be prepared to deal with any new betrayal by any ruler with the same kind of passion, commitment and understanding of a lack of alternative as they did with Sani Abacha, because we cannot continue this cycle of repetitious evil and irresponsibility, that’s what I mean.”
While evaluating the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan, especially on his inability to stop Boko Haram insurgency, Soyinka said the government cannot be totally blamed.
“What happened is a clear failure on leadership. One cannot hold government solely on this, the responsibility actually spread around because the Boko Haram thing began in various ways a long time ago.
There was a time they attempted Islamisation of this nation and it should have been stamped upon using the secular nature of the constitution as a weapon.
While definitely the responsibility for what is going on now rests with Jonathan, the problem began with the previous government,” he said.

Addressing a news conference on Friday over the school’s recent Webometrics ranking as the first in Nigeria and West Africa and the 15th in Africa, he said even though there is no actual date for the likely review yet, the initiative would make admission into the school more affordable and competitive.

Egypt launches air strikes on ISIS after terror group behead 21 Egyptian Christians in Libya

Egypt has launched air strikes on ISIS hours after the terror group released a video showing the beheading of 21 Coptic Christians in Libya. The very graphic and disturbing video was released last night and it showed the terrorists, all dressed in head to toe in black, marching the captives, all wearing orange jumpsuits, to a beach where they were all beheaded by each militant standing behind them.
